Desert Atlas is indie-folk singer-songwriter Mark Ramirez. His full-length debut, “The Great Plains are an Ocean,” released in 2021, comprises 14 “lowercase songs” documenting a preoccupation with place and time, as stand-ins for human connection. 303 Magazine praised the album for its thoughtful lyricism and expansive soundscapes, and Desert Atlas has was featured by Indie 102.3 as a Local 303 artist in November 2021.
