Radio Ga Ga

All through the month of November, you can hear songs from my album on Indie 102.3, because I've been chosen to be part of the Local 303. I've had the pleasure of hearing myself quite a few times over the past week or so, and it still gives me a thrill. In other radio news, big thanks to Sunday Nights with Alf on KTCL for adding Desert Atlas to his Locals Only rotation, and to Lonely Oak Radio for the extensive internet plays.

Show me the shows!

On August 7, I played an hourlong set at City Park Farmers Market in Denver. You might remember that the air quality was quite bad for several days there, which makes singing over a stretch of time quite rough. And I'm not a morning person to begin with Still, I had a great time! Even got some complimentary coffee and breakfast burritos out of the deal. On the Denver Music Community Podcast

I was surprised to learn that the album was featured on the latest episode of the Denver Music Community Podcast. Listen below: I really appreciate how they truly seemed to listen to the tracks and the album as a whole, and do agree with the hosts' contention that it's a bit long. In retrospect, cutting one or two songs could've made it all a bit stronger. I also liked how they gave well-deserved props for the production, mixing and mastering,...

More like Desert ARTlas

This past Friday, July 2, I had the pleasure of performing at the Denver Art Society as part of the Art District on Santa Fe's First Friday Art Walks. It seems so long ago now, but I'd attended my first First Friday back in 2018, I think. It was a lot of fun then, and even more fun now, just realizing all the things we've missed out on since the pandemic. Plus, I got to play music, which is always a plus. For me, anyway. And half the fun is...

‘Great Plains’ featured in 303 Magazine

Awesome Denver publication 303 Magazine and writer Mariah Hansen have seen fit to feature "The Great Plains are an Ocean" in its virtual pages, and I could not be more grateful. I entered the Tiny Desk Contest again

I procrastinated this year—lulled into a false sense of security by the fact that last year's deadline was pushed back to account for the whole pandemic thing. Anyway, I'm OK with how it turned out. I think if I had given myself a bit more time, I could've pulled out a better performance. Still, I like this song a lot. (We always love our newest songs the most, don't we?)

New album now on Bandcamp + show news

The new (and so far only) album, "The Great Plains are an Ocean," can now be ordered on Bandcamp: The Great Plains are an Ocean by Desert Atlas Unfortunately, because of poor timing on my part, the thing may or may not be available on Spotify, Amazon Music, Google Play, Apple Music / iTunes, etc., by the time of the album release show this Friday, June 4, from 8 to 10:30 p.m. at Mutiny Information Cafe, 2 S. Broadway, Denver. However, you can...

Coming back to live

Having been fully vaccinated, I finally ventured out for my first open mic in a year and a half—to the Corner Beet, one of my favorite places to play. Found myself incredibly chatty, catching up with folks I hadn't seen in a long time and meeting some new people as well. Gio is a great host, all the performers are entertaining and the audience is attentive. Also awesome is the fact that the whole thing gets streamed live on Facebook. I come...

Lyric video and album news

So I decided to try making one of those lyric videos all the kids are talking about these days: I think it turned out okay, though I'd love to have a "real" music video some time. It's just hard to find the time and resources (though I know a couple of folks who could help me), and I'm also not that comfortable in front of the camera. Anyway, the video was motivated by some much larger I'm coming out with a full-length album! Fourteen tracks of...
